Growing up, my favorite season was always fall because of the fashion trends. Mustard, olive, booties, and tights are my fav during the fall season! When I moved to Atlanta, fall not only became my favorite because fashion but because of it’s beauty. In Florida there are no real seasons. It’d either be super hot or we’d have a cold front for a few days and then we’ll be wearing flip flops and a hoodie the following week. I didn’t understand the beauty of new seasons until I left the state and experienced my first REAL fall. Leaves would change into beautiful colors, some blooming MORE than others, and some would just fall to the ground.
Seasons are much like people. When God changed my environment and placed me in a new season, he moved some people around me. Friends I knew since elementary school became strangers and others just fell off. At first, I fought it and tried so hard to keep them around. The more I became closer to the purpose that God has for my life, the more distant some people became.
Not every tree is going to bear fruit and not every leaf can withstand the shifting of the atmosphere. When God begins to shift things and draw you nearer to Him, some people in your environment will begin to fall and wither away like a dying leaf trying to survive a new season. If you try and hold on, you might just wither away from GOD’S BLESSINGS. Is it worth it to allow people to deter you away from living the life that God has for you? Everyone can’t go where God is leading you. When people drift out of your life, praise God and keep it moving! You’re on a new level and everyone isn’t built to withstand. God has a PURPOSE for each and every one of us. Sometimes, the people around us can distort God’s VISION for our life. He removes those dying leaves so your tree can continue to grow beautifully. Stop fighting God’s direction and get out of the boat. You will miss your blessing if you aren’t in the proper environment.
Let’s break down the definition of a season:
According to the oxford dictionary, a season is defined as “each of the four divisions of the year marked by particular patterns and daylight hours, resulting from the earth’s changing position with regard to the sun.”
You will go through multiple seasons throughout life. Each season will prepare you for the next. Different trials and tests or patterns will accompany these seasons. How well you handle each season will determine the hour that God says He’s ready to upgrade your position. Will you shine like the sun during this shift so God can promote you to the next season? Or will you continue on the same path and allow those dying leaves to hinder what God has for you?
Do not miss out on the beauty of a new season because you fail to remove friendships, relationships, bad habits, and etc. Surround yourself with individuals who will help you get through your new season. Everyone that enters your life is there for a reason, season, or lifetime. Let it go and let them FALL!
Heart Check: Which friend are you?

Proverbs 22:3 (NLT): A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.
Proverbs 18:24 (NLT): There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 20:4 (NLT): Those too lazy to plow in the right season will have no food at the harvest.
